As mentioned before in my previous post, they have my schedule switched around. Instead of working my normal, 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., I'm currently on 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., due to staffing issues. Basically, we're down two fulltime positions in the morning. Two other employees are splitting one, while I'm on the other. Because they had to pull me, they have to pull someone from the 4:30-8:30 to cover my shift. So there's still a gap....I've already worked a double this week and I'm about to do it again this evening. So...here comes the BS. All the morning shift people say "No, I'm not coming in..." They know what its like to work short...it SUCKS!!!!!!! So, I'm the only person who will say yes. I'm the only one who said yes to switching my shift around. Guarenteed, if it was any of them...they whine and moan and complain about how they had to switch. I'd help them out. Do they help me out? One employee always asks, "How come they never call me when they down a person?" Because....nine times out of ten you tell them no OR you don't answer your phone. It's just SUPER frustrating that I'm doing this to help out the morning shift and the morning shift won't even help out the night shift.
The State surveyors just left our building last week. After MONTHS of keeping the kitchens looking fantastic, making sure everything is labeled and dated, making sure everything meets santitation requirements, the week after state leaves the kitchens are back to looking like crap. It happens every year. We slack off until three or four months before state comes and then its a big hayday. My boss is freaking out that state is going to show up and the kitchens are horrible. Yet, if she had only stayed on top of it, we wouldn't have this problem. Sometimes, it feels like they're are only three people out of almost thirty that actually give a damn.
So, you might be thinking, "Well, Sarah...you're in school. You'll be able to get a better job in a couple of months." Unfortunately, I've been looking on Monsterjobs.com, careerbuilder.com and I'm not finding anything that I'm going to school for. Talk about scary. I've spent almost a thousand dollars on books and tuition, I've spent hours doing homework and labs for a piece of paper that I might not be able to use!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I just took a vacation a month ago...and I'm ready for another one.
